TOWN OF FAIRFAX PROCLAMATION
Affordable Housing Month
May 2024
WHEREAS, every year, Fairfax families and individuals struggle to afford housing in one of the most expensive housing markets in the nation, and
WHEREAS, the Town of Fairfax recognizes that affordable housing is essential to a stable and diverse community and thriving local economy; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Fairfax recognizes the need to preserve and improve existing housing stock, create new, permanently affordable homes, and prevent displacement in order to help individuals age in place, reduce commute times for our local workforce, prevent homelessness, and promote racial and economic equity;
WHEREAS, the Town of Fairfax has made affordable housing a priority to be achieved by decreasing barriers to housing construction and rehabilitation, providing incentives to affordable housing development, implementing inclusionary zoning and in-lieu policies, and facilitating home-share and other programs intended to enhance housing affordability; and WHEREAS, the Town of Fairfax is committed to safe, stable, and affordable housing for all its current and future residents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that Town Council of the Town of Fairfax hereby proclaims May 2024 as Affordable Housing Month.
