SUBJECT Receive report of Town Hall closure and winter furlough days for Town Hall employees from December 24, 2024 to January 1, 2025
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Town Council receive and file the report regarding the scheduled winter furlough and closure of Town Hall.
BACKGROUND
Per Town Council Resolution 13-54, the Town Manager is required to inform the Council of the dates for the winter furlough. The Town Hall offices close during this period, allowing employees unpaid time off or the option to use their vacation or accrued paid leave. Public Works and Police Department employees are not subject to this closure.
DISCUSSION
For 2024-2025, Town Hall will be closed Tuesday, December 24 through Wednesday, January 1; the furlough begins on Thursday, December 26, and extends through Tuesday, December 31, 2025. Town Hall will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2025. Keep in mind, Town Hall is regularly closed to the public on Fridays.
Town Hall employees have the option to use paid leave (vacation or other) during the furlough or take unpaid leave. Additionally, they will receive pay for the designated holidays of December 24, December 25, and January 1.
