TOWN OF FAIRFAX PROCLAMATION
Recognizing the Observance of Veterans Day on November 11, 2024 WHEREAS, the United States of America has a rich legacy of military service, with countless brave individuals having answered the call to serve our nation across many conflicts and eras; and
WHEREAS, Veterans Day is a time to honor and express profound gratitude to our veterans, acknowledging their dedication, sacrifice, and valor in safeguarding the principles of freedom and democracy; and
WHEREAS, this day commemorates the armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918, symbolizing the aspiration for lasting peace, and now serves as a broader tribute to all who have served in defense of our nation; and
WHEREAS, the theme for Veterans Day 2024, “A Legacy of Loyalty and Service,” reflects the enduring commitment of veterans who have not only protected our nation but continue to contribute as mentors, leaders, and exemplary citizens; and WHEREAS, we must remember the sacrifices made by both veterans and their families, ensuring they receive the support, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities they deserve as they transition to civilian life; and
WHEREAS, our veterans face ongoing challenges, including mental health issues and homelessness, and it is our solemn duty to address these issues with compassion and tangible support; and
WHEREAS, the Fairfax community stands united in expressing appreciation for our veterans, honoring them with ceremonies, parades, and community events that foster understanding and respect across generations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY PROCLAIMED that the Town of Fairfax recognizes the observance of Veterans Day on November 11, 2024, and calls upon the community to join in honoring our veterans with gratitude, respect, and support.
