SUBJECT Adopt a Resolution Continuing Expenditures and Revenues in Accordance with the FY 2024-25 Town Budget and Continuing the FY 2025-26 Town Budget Adoption
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution continuing expenditures and revenues in accordance with the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Town Budget and continuing the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget adoption process.
DISCUSSION
This action allows the Town to continue its operations after the start of the new fiscal year (July 1, 2025) without an approved FY2025-26 budget. While the Town would prefer to adopt its annual budget prior to the start of the new fiscal year, adopting a resolution will allow the Town to continue its operations until the new budget is adopted.
This evening, the Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed FY2025-26 budget.
Staff anticipates the Council will consider the adoption of the FY2025-26 budget at its next regular meeting, July 16, 2025.

A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF FAIRFAX
CONTINUING EXPENDITURES AND REVENUES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FISCAL YEAR 2024-2025 TOWN BUDGET AND CONTINUING THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-2026
BUDGET ADOPTION
WHEREAS, the Town of Fairfax operates on a July 1st to June 30th Fiscal Year; and WHEREAS, it is prudent for the Town Council to adopt a budget by July 1st to authorize expenditures for the ensuing year; and
WHEREAS, the Town staff is preparing a draft budget for Fiscal Year 2025- 2026 and held a public review for the budget on June 4, 2025, to provide input into the final budget document; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town of Fairfax hereby authorizes expenditures to be charged and revenues to be credited to Fiscal Year 2024-2025, as appropriate, until such time that the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget is adopted; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Town staff is hereby authorized to continue to pay normal operating expenditures from each Town fund as appropriate.
