New CA requirements
• Effective January 1, 2025, jurisdictions in CA must hold at least one public hearing per fiscal year (before Budget adoption) to discuss:
• vacancies,
• recruitment, and
• retention efforts.
• Offer labor unions opportunity to present to Council. • POA and SEIU declined opportunity to present.
Reporting Results
• For the calendar year 2024, the Town’s annual average percentage of vacancies (i.e., regular, full-time
equivalent) is 7%.
• Fairfax’s vacancy rate has been well below the 20- percent threshold, thus there is no need for additional reporting.
• Not included are positions not funded and not intended to fill.
