SUBJECT Adopt Resolution Setting the Living Wage for Town Employees and Town Contract Employees pursuant to the Annual Review Requirements of Section
8.56.020 of the Town Code
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt the resolution setting the living wage.
BACKGROUND
The Town is required to annually review and adjust the living wage for its employees and contract employees based on the annual cost of living increase, as measured by the San Francisco Bay Area Consumer Price Index (CPI). This adjustment ensures fair compensation in accordance with Section
8.56.020 of the Town Code.
DISCUSSION
The CPI for June 2025 indicates a 1.2% increase in cost of living. Consequently, the living wage for 2025 is set at $24.13 per hour for employees with employer-sponsored benefits and $27.58 per hour for those without such benefits. This is an increase from the previous year's living wage, which was $23.84 with benefits and $27.25 without benefits.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact associated with this action, this modest CPI increase was anticipated in the budget.

RESOLUTION 25-___
A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF FAIRFAX
SETTING THE LIVING WAGE PURSUANT TO THE ANNUAL REVIEW REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 8.56.020 OF THE TOWN CODE
WHEREAS, Section 8.56.020(B) of the Town Code (Ord 691 passed 8/6/02) requires that “‘the living wage’ paid to (contract) employees… shall be a minimum hourly wage of $13.00 with employer sponsored benefits or $14.75 without employer sponsored health benefits, until adjusted by further action of the Town Council annually by resolution, after consideration of the annual cost of living increase as measured by the San Francisco Bay Area Consumer Price Index (CPI); and WHEREAS, the Living Wage in Fairfax effective July 1, 2024, was set at $23.84 with employer sponsored benefits and $27.25 without employer sponsored health benefits; and WHEREAS, the annual cost of living increase as measured by the CPI for the 12 months ended June 30, 2025, in the San Francisco Bay Area is 1.2%;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax that the Living Wage in Fairfax effective July 1, 2025, shall be set at $24.13 with employer sponsored benefits and $27.58 without employer sponsored health benefits.
The foregoing Resolution was duly passed and adopted at a Regular Meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Fairfax held in said Town on the 6th day of August 2025, by the following vote, to wit:
