RECOMMENDATION
Interview and consider appointment of Robert Holtz as the Town of Fairfax representative to the Marin Commission on Aging for a term expiring June 30, 2027.

BACKGROUND
There is currently one (1) vacancy for the Town of Fairfax representative on the Marin Commission on Aging. This Commission includes representatives from each city and town, as well as County and state appointees, and focuses on issues affecting older adults.

Members serve three-year terms. The Commission meets monthly and addresses topics such as senior services, health, housing, and social support systems.

The Town received one application from Fairfax resident Robert Holtz.

DISCUSSION
Robert Holtz is a retired registered nurse with 40 years of experience in adult mental health, including work with older adults facing medical, cognitive, and social challenges.

His professional and personal experience includes:
• Supporting seniors with mental health, aging, and end-of-life issues • Assisting with care decisions for an elderly family member • Participation in local senior programs and community organizations His application reflects a strong understanding of the challenges facing older adults, including access to services, social isolation, and healthcare needs. He expressed interest in improving awareness and accessibility of resources and strengthening community support systems.

No direct conflicts of interest were identified, though he serves on a local homeowners association board.

With one applicant and one vacancy, staff find the applicant’s background aligns well with the Commission’s mission.
