FAIRFAX TOWN COUNCIL MEETING

STAFF REPORT
SPECIAL AGENDA ITEM #1
MEETING DATE May 6, 2026
PREPARED FOR Mayor and Town Council
PREPARED BY Christine Foster, Assistant to the Town Manager/Deputy Town Clerk SUBJECT Interview and consider appointment of Linda Bolt to the Parks and Recreation Commission for a four-year term ending May 6, 2030

RECOMMENDATIONS
Interview and consider appointment of Linda Bolt to the Parks and Recreation Commission for a fouryear term ending May 6, 2030.

BACKGROUND
There is currently one (1) vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Commission. Commission members serve four-year terms and advise the Town Council on parks, recreation programs, and community events.

The Town received one application from Fairfax resident Linda Bolt. The applicant has attended a Commission meeting as required.

DISCUSSION
Linda Bolt brings extensive experience in community programming, event production, and arts management. Her background includes 24 years as Director of Performing Arts at the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center, where she oversaw programming, marketing, and community outreach efforts.

She has direct experience with Fairfax community events, including service on the Festival Committee and volunteer roles supporting local activities. This experience aligns with the Commission’s role in fostering recreation opportunities and community engagement.

Her stated vision emphasizes building a multi-cultural, multi-generational community through events and shared experiences, which is consistent with the Commission’s purpose.

A potential conflict of interest was disclosed, noting that her spouse serves on the Open Space Committee. This does not preclude service but may require recusal in limited circumstances.

With one qualified applicant and one vacancy, staff finds the applicant meets eligibility requirements and has relevant experience.

FISCAL IMPACT
None.
