Creek Road Bridge Seismic
Rehabilitation Project: CEQA
IS/MND* Adoption

IS/MND: Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration
Background
• Creek Road Bridge – located on Creek Road in Fairfax
• Built 1929
• The primary issue facing the bridge is seismic vulnerability. • Studies determined that the deck is not adequately anchored to the supporting structure and could fail catastrophically during a major earthquake.
• This project focuses on retrofitting the existing bridge to prevent catastrophic collapse during a major earthquake
Construction Overview
• Seismic anchors will
be installed for the
bridge deck
• Columns and beams
will be retrofitted for
seismic stability
• Concrete patch work
and expansion joint
repair

Environmental Impacts
• Air Quality, Biological Resources, Cultural Resources, Geology and Soils, Hazards and Hazardous Materials, Hydrology and Water Quality, Noise, Transportation, and Tribal Cultural Resources.
• IS/MND concluded that all environmental impacts can be mitigated to less-than-significant levels.
• IS/MND includes a Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program to ensure environmental impacts are mitigated during
construction
Public Review Process
• Draft IS/MND was circulated for a 30-day public review period May 7 – June 8, 2026
• Letters were sent to residents who are most impacted by the project and a notice was advertised in the Marin IJ
• No public comments were received during the review period.
Closing
• Conclusion:
• All potentially significant impacts can be mitigated to a lessthan-significant level. • There is no substantial evidence that the project will result in significant environmental impacts with mitigation in place. • Recommendation:
• Adopt the IS/MND and Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program (MMRP)
• Approve the project
