Hello!
We are just writing to express our support for a new process around outdoor special events that is being brought to the town council. Would be wonderful to see a streamlined and affordable process to make our town even more vibrant. Our events always seem to bring new life to the community and town and we see the value in having a new process for this.

Re: Support for a Streamlined Special Event Permit
Dear Mayor Hellman, Vice Mayor Egger, and Members of the Fairfax Town Council,
I am writing to express my strong support for creating a streamlined Special Event Permit process for 1 day community events in Fairfax. A clear, predictable permit process would help local businesses, nonprofits, artists, and residents host safe, well-managed gatherings while preserving the small-town character that makes Fairfax special.

Short-term events bring energy and excitement to Fairfax. A streamlined Special Event Permit is a balanced approach: it acknowledges that a one-or two-day event is different from permanent or recurring outdoor use, while still allowing the oversight on temporary neighbor impacts.

I encourage the Council to prioritize plain-language, reasonable timelines, transparent fees, and clear conditions of approval. This would reduce confusion for applicants and staff alike, while ensuring events are reviewed consistently.

Fairfax benefits when people can gather, shop locally, share music and food, raise funds, and build community. Streamlined permitting provides a solution and a fair compromise.

For these reasons, I support a streamlined Special Event Permit process that encourages community vitality, protects neighborhoods, and gives applicants a clear path to hosting safe and successful short-term events.

Thank you for your service to Fairfax and for considering this important improvement.

Sincerely,
Lori Bruckner – Owner, The Lodge in Fairfax and Resident of San Anselmo

To Fairfax Town Council <[email protected]> Hi all,
As I'm sure you are aware, the conditional use permit process is outdated, expensive, and could also be much more accessible.

I fully support updating the conditional use permit process to address these problems, in order to allow for community events, live music, and reasonable amplified sound.

As a kitchen manager,  i have direct experience in the myriad economic, social, and cultural effects of fostering a truly vibrant downtown and event calendar— which have a positive multiplier effect on our community.

There will always be those who do not want change—too bad! The world is changing and we should too. This is an easy change that would directly impact small businesses, their workers, and our community. Let’s get it done!
All the best,
Mick Bruckner

To Fairfax Town Council <[email protected]> Hello town council
I support the change and need for a streamlined permitting process for ootdoor events in our social and musical communities.

We need to let townsfolk deliver these public expereinces with out long durations of consideration and without high costs to apply for such an event permit.

The spaces around our town are for enjoying performances and trading and creating community interaction within guidelines that set parameters that are considerent to the public and provide safety and fun.
