PREPARED BY Janabai Owens, Deputy Town Clerk
SUBJECT Adopt a Resolution Authorizing the Display of Veterans Day Banners during the Month of November 2026; Authorize Use of Staff Time to Place Banners
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a Resolution authorizing the display of Veterans Day banners during the month of November 2026 and authorize the use of staff time to place the banners.
BACKGROUND
In June 2023, Former Mayor Cutrano proposed honoring Veterans Day by displaying Veterans Day inspired banners on lamp posts in the downtown area during November.
The Town has a flag policy that ensures Council control over flag displays and permits commemorative flags to be flown only when authorized by the Town Council.
DISCUSSION
Staff purchased the banners, depicted to the right, in 2023 and plan to reuse the banners. The banners will be placed on lamp posts located along Bolinas Road, Broadway, and Center Blvd. with the use of San Anselmo’s bucket truck.
FISCAL IMPACT
It requires two Public Works crew members a total of 3.5 hours each to hang the 19 banners. The fully loaded salary and benefit rate is $60.12 for employee #1 and $49.87 for employee #2. The cost of the Public Works crew to hang all flags on the lamp posts in the downtown corridor will be $385.00.
