Mayor Moy,
I returned to work today at Nelda Mundy Elementary School. Our school starts on Wednesday and we already have a full page of overflow students. This means that students that currently live within our school’s boundaries will NOT be able to attend their local school because there is no room for them. Our schools are full, our streets are congested. We lack services and amenities, yet the city continues to approve and build apartment complexes. I urge you to use your vote on Option 2 to deny a general plan amendment for a zoning change at 4840 Business Center Drive. This area was intended to be a “business” area with a Marketplace and office area within the Green Valley community. The traffic congestion on Business Center Drive and at Green Valley Road has increasingly become problematic and will continue to amplify with such a project. The proposed 185 apartments will empty out on an already congested street creating a gridlock between the 2 traffic lights at Neitzel Road and Business Center Drive and increasing the waiting times at an already overcrowded intersection. I voted for you with the good intention that you would represent and listen to your city residents. I hope that you listen to us on this item and vote for Option 2.
I also ask you to NOT approve a second zoning change along Business Center Drive. The Wiseman's Aurora apartment project which is located behind Nelda Mundy School, next to the Cordelia library, and next to other office buildings. As stated before, we have NO room for additional students at Nelda Mundy.
Thank you, in advance, for your representation of the needs of your City residents.
