Subject:Supporting Peafowl in the Rolling Hills Neighborhood Follow Up Flag:Follow up
Flag Status:Flagged
To Whom it May Concern,
I'm writing to express my support for the continued presence of peafowl in the Rolling Hills neighborhood. My family purchased a home on Fieldcrest Ave. almost exactly one year ago, and the presence of the peafowl was one of the things that made the neighborhood special when we chose to purchase the home, and it continues to be one of our favorite things about the neighborhood.
While I realize they can be an occasional nuisance, for us the positives far outweigh the negatives. We've experienced more property damage from northern flickers (woodpecker‐like birds) tearing up the eaves of our roof than we've had from peacocks. I also understand that the population has increased significantly since the neighborhood was first founded. I'm not necessarily opposed to measures to reduce the peafowl population, or to curb its growth. But I don't believe it's necessary (or would be practical) to try to limit their range, and I am vehemently opposed to any plan to remove them completely from the area.
Thank you for weighing my opinion with that of the other Rolling Hills community members.
Best,
Mitch Slater
