Subject:Yes to a ceasefire resolution
Dear Fairfield CounciI Members,
I am a Jewish resident of San Francisco, and I am thrilled Fairfield is considering a ceasefire resolution in Gaza. Like many of us, I grieve the people killed on October 7 and the much greater number killed by Israel in Gaza and the West Bank. I have friends in Gaza and in Israel, and they are all suffering from this war.
Calling for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian aid is not divisive or antisemitic, no matter what Israel lobby groups say. San Francisco and Oakland passed such resolutions, and they have brought people together.
Israel‐identified organizations like the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) do not speak for me or for most Jews.
They are exposing us to antisemitic attacks by those who accept Israel’s claim to represent all Jews.
As an American, I resent and grieve that my tax money funds the Israeli planes and bombs massacring women and children. How much tax money is California contributing to this war? We should use that money to help our own people, not to kill others.
The longer this war goes on, the more violence it will provoke. The war is dividing our communities; a ceasefire resolution would help bring us together.
