Below is a summary of conversations:
Brian Mitchell of Authentic
March 12, This Tuesday via phone
Brian gave me the history of his family, Fairfield connection and his dad passing. Gave the name of someone that had one percent ownership leaving the company. (I don’t remember the name)
construction delays and his dad passing and him being burned out and driving tasks associated with opening the store - as the reasons they haven’t opened can open by Dec but put everything on pause through our decision to pull the license or not Says they have 40 (perhaps I didn’t hear the number right) locations throughout the state and country. Their projections on this Fairfield 1,000 sq ft location is $25M annually and will 2 not take market share from their SC store and any other stores because they will get highway/off exit traffic. Says the family considers this their “legacy location” because of their ties to Fairfield, he currently lives in fairfield, the size, and connection to the building/land they bought is down the street from his childhood home that they still own March 1
Ron Turner / Fairfield Staff , Embark
Right before the PAL Crab Feed
Tour of Embark store and operations
tour included security, store, inventory management and community benefits and donations at end mentioned a 4th license would negatively impact market share. I told him, the number of licenses was already decided 3 years ago and as a business owner my advice was to secure his market share with clients that are already coming to his $1.2M annual operation instead of worrying about a 4th license that was decided already. paid for cannabis cookies for my husband
Ron Turner and Michelle Coleman (embark community board) text me the next day for an emergency meeting before the City Council meeting / I said no. Ron then called and said they have “new facts” regarding Authentic and they would call David Gassaway. I said that’s fine, I did not ask what the facts were.
March 1
Jim Inglebright, BrightSpot
During the PAL Crab feed
Family history and ties to Fairfield
Brightspot operations, what makes them unique
a 4th store would impact market share to the other 3 cannabis stores in Fairfield March 4
Former Supervisor, Jim Spering
Text to say he we don’t need any more cannabis stores in Fairfield or Suisun City. I text him back and told him the number of cannabis licenses is not for discussion tonight.
Glenn Loveall, Napa Solano Labor Council / Jim ? Union rep for Cannabis employees - zoom call Glenn called the day of our city council meeting in January about revoking the Authentic license. Indicated that the authentic workforce was unionized. Wanted my support in allowing them to keep it. I told him that I like unionized jobs but I don’t promise anyone support. I want to learn and understand all aspects of the issue, ask staff questions, listen to public comments, ask questions and then decide, on the Dias. In Feb, I spoke to Glenn and Jim. Same conversation, same ask, same response from me. I also added, as I did on the Dias, this doesn’t seem to be a union issue.
3 Thanks
