ORDINANCE NO. 2025-04
ADDING CHAPTER 8B FAIRFIELD FIRE HAZARD SEVERITY ZONES RECOMMENDED BY
THE CALIFORNIA STATE FIRE MARSHAL
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFIELD DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 8B is hereby added to the Fairfield Municipal Code as follows:
Chapter 8B
FAIRFIELD FIRE HAZARD SEVERITY ZONES
Article I. Designation of Fire Hazard Severity Zones in the City of Fairfield
8B.1.1 Statutory Authorization and Designation of Fire Hazard Severity Zones.
(a) The City Council designates the Fire Hazard Severity Zones as identified by the State Fire Marshal pursuant to Government Code Section 51178. The map, dated February 24, 2025, and approved by the City Council, is hereby incorporated by reference, and entitled “Fairfield Fire Hazard Severity Zones.” The official map is located at the main office of the Fairfield Fire Department, and also accessible electronically on the following website https://www.fairfield.ca.gov/government/city-departments/fire/lra-fire-severity-zone- map;
SECTION 2: Severability. If any section, sub -section, subdivision, paragraph, clause or phrase in this Ordinance, or any part thereof, is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining sections or portions of this Ordinance or any part thereof. Th e City Council hereby declares that it would have passed each section, sub-section, subdivision, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, sub - sections, subdivisions, paragraphs, sentences, clauses or phrases may be declared invalid or unconstitutional
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be effective 30 days following its adoption by the City Council. A summary of this Ordinance shall, within 15 days after passage, be published in accordance with Section 36933 of the Government Code of the State of California with the names of the City Councilmembers voting for and against it.
SECTION 4. Pursuant to Government Code section 51179(c), the Fairfield Fire Marshal or his designated representative shall transmit a copy of this ordinance to the State Board of Forestry and Fire Protection within 30 days of adoption. Pursuant to Government Code section 51179(g), the Fairfield Fire Marshal or his designated representative shall post a notice at the county recorder, county assessor, and county planning agency identifying ORD. NO. 2025-04
the location of the map provided by the State Fire Marshal pursuant to Government Code section 51178. Finally, the Fairfield Fire Marshal and his designated representatives shall also do any other things required by local or State law to enact the provisions of this law.
