RESOLUTION NO. 2025-125
DECLARING FAIRFIELD AS AN AMERICA250 CITY, MARKING THE CELEBRATION OF OUR NATION’S 250TH ANNIVERSARY AN OFFICIAL CITY INITIATIVE, AND AUTHORIZING
PARTNERSHIPS WITH OTHER SOLANO COUNTY GOVERNMENT AND NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS TO FURTHER AMERICA’S SEMIQUINCENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
WHEREAS, the United States will celebrate and commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence—America’s semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the America250 Commission plans to commemorate and celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary with inclusive programs that inspire Am ericans to renew and strengthen our daring experiment in democracy; and
WHEREAS, America250 is a nonpartisan initiative working to engage every American in the efforts to celebrate through various initiatives and activities; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to establish a semiquincentennial commitee, to be known as the “America250 (AM250) Committee” to plan and organize specific commemoration activities in advance of and in culmination with the City’s Fourth of July parade on the 250 th Anniversary of the United States of America on July 4, 2026.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFIELD HEREBY RESOLVES:
Section 1. The AM250 Committee will promote in advance of and culminate in a city Signature Event, the July 4th parade, with unique recognition in celebration of the City’s history and honor the military through public art.
Section 2. The number of members of the City’s AM250 Committee shall be represented by up to ten Solano County non -profit organizations serving the life time of the Committee, provided that any vacancy created shall be filled in the same manner as originally determined.
Section 3. That this AM250 Committee shall be a limited -term committee and dissolve on December 31, 2026.
Section 4. The nature and sc ope of offered City resources shall be limited to: communications and marketing, event or programmatic co-branding support for activities, and City staff time.
Section 5. Notwithstanding the City’s declaration herein, the City reserves the right to terminate, in whole or in part, the related activities for any of the following reasons:

City funds are not available or the City in its sole discretion does not believe it is in the best interest of the City financially
City staff and other City resources are not available Section 6. Council approves the city manager's authority to manage this initiative without prior council approval, thereby granting broader decision-making capabilities to streamline processes related to the City of Fairfield’s America250 Committee.
