Hello,

I am a resident of the Paradise Valley neighborhood. My husband and I are unable to attend the meeting tomorrow, and I was told I could email you my thoughts instead of attending in person.

I am strongly opposed to this project. We have already faced severe issues with our home—our house has been burglarized, our trash cans gone through numerous times, and I’ve stopped shopping at the Raleys because of numerous terrifying incidents in the parking lot where I was verbally threatened. We are already dealing with people illegally “camping” in the hills by our neighborhood. They leave piles of trash, run out in front of cars, and make my sons so uncomfortable they no longer feel safe riding their bikes around their own neighborhood. This new project would house sex offenders, which makes me even more wary of allowing them out and about on their own. That’s not the childhood I envisioned for them when we purchased in this area.

2 I feel compassion for people experiencing homelessness and addiction, and I want us to find ways to support them—but it cannot be at the cost of the safety of our neighborhood.

This chosen shelter/housing location is right down the road from the high school! I already see those kids having to navigate threatening people on the sidewalks as they walk home from school in the afternoon. This would only exacerbate that issue. There has to be a better place for a facility like this that is not right near a high school, a once safe shopping area, and a local favorite restaurant where we celebrate family birthdays—like most of my neighbors do at the Texas Roadhouse.

My extreme concern is that this facility will house sex offenders and appears to not require residents to receive treatment for addiction nor abstain from drugs. Please include my STRONG OPPOSITION to this project in the meeting and any discussion that comes from it.

We have lived in our home since 2010, and we are long-term, tax-paying residents already struggling with the issues that have grown in this area.

This is making us seriously considering selling our home and leaving Fairfield, and I know many neighbors feel the same.

PLEASE stop this project.

Thank you,
Emily Ogle
