Hi Sherice,
Thank you for writing to me about the homeless housing proposed for N. Texas St.
Your letter is thoughtful concerning the need for services for homeless folks.
I’m bcc’ing the City Council to ensure they all hear your concerns.
Thank you again for your message.

Catherine “Cat” Moy

2 I hope you are well. My husband and I moved to Paradise Valley six years ago, and so far, we have enjoyed the peace and safety this neighborhood provides. I'm writing to you because I understand there are plans to convert the Sure Stay hotel to an affordable housing complex for the severely mentally ill, sex offenders, and those with behavioral and substance abuse issues. While I understand the need to house those who are homeless, I have strong concerns about placing people who have mental illness or other adverse behavioral problems at that location. Not only would there be a negative impact on the businesses we frequently shop in that area, but it would also present a safety issue with the residents who live in the area.
I enjoy shopping at Raleys and CVS, and we eat at the restaurants in that area quite often. It would be a shame for those businesses to suffer the loss of revenue due to people being afraid to come out because of the people being housed at that location. I fully support providing housing for the homeless; however, is it possible to have the location moved to a less populated area where it would be less of a negative impact on the businesses and residents?
Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Sherice James
