Re: Letter of Support for Vista Ridge Permanent Supportive Housing Project - Rezoning Request for 3331 North Texas Street
Dear Honorable Mayor and City Council Members,
As a CAP Solano JPA Board Member, and speaking on behalf of myself, I am writing to express my strong support for the proposed rezoning of Ordinance 2025-06 CD Vista Ridge Zone Change, and the proposed Vista Ridge permanent supportive housing project located at 3331 North Texas Street in Fairfield.
The requested rezoning of this property from commercial to mixed commercial use is consistent with the City of Fairfield's General Plan and represents a critical step forward in addressing our region's most pressing housing needs. This project is not a shelter, it will provide 50 permanent supportive housing units with on-site services specifically designed to serve our most vulnerable populations, including:
• Veterans who have served our country and deserve stable housing • Individuals experiencing homelessness who are actively seeking housing solutions • Individuals with mental health challenges who require supportive services alongside stable housing
For example, the success of Fair Haven Commons demonstrates that permanent supportive housing projects can achieve positive outcomes for both residents and the broader community. The Vista Ridge project is positioned to yield similar results, providing not just housing but the wraparound services necessary for long- term stability and success.
The strategic location of Vista Ridge offers significant advantages, providing residents with convenient access to essential resources including grocery stores, restaurants, and public transportation. This accessibility is crucial for residents' independence and integration into the community.
Given the urgent need for permanent supportive housing in our region and the project's alignment with Fairfield's planning goals, I respectfully urge the Fairfield City Council to vote in favor of approving this rezoning request.
Thank you for your consideration of this important matter and your continued commitment to addressing housing needs in our community.
Sincerely,
Wanda Williams
