Thank you for your thoughtful letter.
I’m so glad you came to Fairfield. I’m biased because I was born and raised here, but I love the city. It’s why I work hard with council and staff to make Fairfield a safe, family friendly town.
I’m bcc’ing the City Council to ensure they all hear your ideas and concerns.
I will personally take them into consideration on this project.
Faithfully Leading Fairfield,
Catherine “Cat” Moy
Mayor, City of Fairfield

Dear Mayor Moy,
I am writing as a concerned resident of Fairfield to express my strong opposition to the proposed Vista Ridge Permanent Housing Project at the SureStay Inn on North Texas Street. While I understand the City’s intent to address homelessness and behavioral health needs, I believe this particular location and project plan will negatively impact the surrounding neighborhoods, businesses, and overall safety of our community.
I am fairly new to Fairfield, having purchased my home just two years ago. I chose this community for its safety and quality of life, especially because I am raising children here. If I had known a project of this nature would be located so close to my home, I likely would have reconsidered moving to this area.
My concerns include:
Public Safety: Concentrating individuals with severe mental illness, drug and alcohol dependency, and registered sex offenders in this area raises legitimate safety concerns for residents, businesses, and customers.
Business and Economic Impact: Local businesses may see decreased foot traffic, lower property values, and increased risk of theft or vandalism. These economic effects will ripple throughout the community.
Community Environment: Public loitering, substance use, and unsafe behaviors could discourage residents from shopping or dining in the area, hurting Fairfield’s reputation as a safe, welcoming city.
I urge the City to consider alternative solutions that provide supportive housing and services in locations that do not pose such direct risks to established residential and commercial districts. Addressing homelessness and behavioral health is important, but it must be done in a way that also protects the safety, stability, and economic well-being of our community.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I appreciate your service to Fairfield and hope the voices of concerned residents will be carefully considered as you and the City Council deliberate on this proposal.
Sincerely,
Yvette Valadez—Manzanita Ave (Flower Neighborhood)
