Hi Amira,

Thank you for reaching out to me on this issue.

I’m noting your concerns to ensure they are part of the public discourse on the project.

I want to clarify a couple things for you.

The facility will have a manager 24-7, and a social services nonprofit will be available during the weekdays for residents who want help.

It is true that Housing First mandates that residents are allowed to continue illicit drug use and refuse mental health help in permanent supportive housing funded by California or the federal government.

This project is Housing First.

This facility is specifically built for homeless folks suffering from mental illness. They may have come from prison or jail, but they must already be in the local system for helping homeless folks.

Residents will be able to leave the complex as they please and must sign out and in.

I hope that clarifies the questions you have about monitoring and oversight.

Thank you again for reaching out!

I oppose the proposed conversion of the hotel on north Texas next to Texas Roadhouse Restaurant. The proposal will use the facility for homeless, drug addicts, mentally ill, and potentially sex offenders.

The OPPOSITION is based on the fact there will be NO -

1. Oversight

2. Monitoring

3. No Mandatory requirements for drug nor mental health treatment

4. Several elderly and children live in and frequent this areas (huge safety concerns)

5. Will reduce the property values and safety of this area

6. Increase crime to the businesses located directly across from this facility.

7. Increase crime in the area homes and streets.
