Thank you Joey
It was wonderful seeing you today at the Tripartite Advisory Board meeting.
I watched how you were treated at the town hall but it broke my heart today to hear you recount your experience of Being boo’d and shut down at the PV Town hall meeting last week. Other PV and area Neighbors and community members in the room saw it and have contacted me or pulled me aside (I’m sure because I was boo’d too) to discuss how they watched how you and others were treated and they did not feel comfortable speaking up.
I can think a bunch of excuses why I didn’t just stand next to you in that moment — I wasn’t feeling well, I didn’t feel empowered, was intimidated, i wasn’t the host or facilitator , or maybe the inexperience of being in a space like that before. But none of those reasons are good enough. Joey, I sincerely apologize. I feel like I failed you and any person that felt silenced.
Joey your experience as someone that has experienced life unhoused and navigated to where you are today is valuable and powerful. And yes, all voices even opposing views in a City of Fairfield event is welcome.
I’ve grown, because of this experience last week and I’ve committed to making certain no one should ever feel unwelcome, unvalued or silenced in a meeting with a city logo on it again.
2 See you in the community.
Best Regards,
K Patrice Williams

Hello,
I did not show up to the town hall because I was working an event that evening for foster youth at Laurel Creek Park. As the Outreach Coordinator for CASA of Solano I was passing out resources to local youth and their families until 7pm. Per my record I make time and attend as many city events as possible because I understand the importance of showing up and being present. This meeting conflicted with the event for foster youth that I had already committed to attend as a part of my job. And those are facts.
Joey, thank you for your comments. Your background, experience and voice is always appreciated in conversations and discussions regarding the houseless population. Thank you for showing up and for all that you do with the CoC, Lived Experience Committee and T.A.B.

Yes, when my name and K.Patrice was brought up by one of the attendees on our vote, I was in the back of the room. I came to the front of the room and stood there nodding to the Mayor like we do when we want to speak and even raised my hand and was ignored. I would’ve been more than happy to talk, and I did quite a bit of talking in the parking lot to a lot more than six people who were afraid to express their opinions and felt unsafe. Like I have said before and say again, we have a rising homeless issue in Fairfield, and we need to calmly and without political agendas or bias look at all viable options honestly. this particular project is just one possibility and that is it. Our vote for rezoning gives us more options on improving that property that’s all we did with the zoning change. This decision just gave us more options on fixing up that property. We could put beautiful apartments because of the zoning, or many other things and I think if we focused on improving the property like everybody wants to do and not demonizing one possibility I think it would be more productive and more professional for us as leaders to do so. and may I remind you that yourself and the Mayor voted with the rest of us unanimously for Danko to come to our area.

Good Afternoon Mr. Carrizales,
4 My apologies for the delayed response. This issue has attracted a robust community response, which is exactly why the Mayor and I hosted the Town Hall Meeting – to hear from YOU – because your voice matters to us (and hopefully to the other City Council Members as well).
I am not an associate of anyone – I’m the Vice Mayor of this City. I did my level best to keep the Town Hall Meeting respectful and on point. The other residents voiced their concerns as well and they have every right to do so. My job is not to admonish taxpayers from expressing their views – but rather to hear and respect their concerns. As you know, the taxpayers pay the bills – and we report directly to them. I did not generate or encourage the BOOS that you heard. That response was from residents here in Fairfield who weighed-in on the zoning vote.
Notably, Council Member Carr said nothing – and did absolutely nothing at the Town Hall Meeting to defend his vote on this matter. Neither did Council Member Tonneson. Council Member Williams expressed her comments – and then left the Meeting prematurely – before hearing the residents’ concerns. Council Members Panduro and Sandu did not even show up. These are undisputed and material facts.
I’m happy to have a conversation with you to discuss this matter further – and I thank you for attending the Town Hall Meeting. I thank you also for caring about our community. Call me anytime (707) 628-6974. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Very Best Regards,
Pam Bertani, Vice Mayor

thank you for your correspondence. I have to say I agree with you. I’ve been working to reduce hopelessness for quite some time. This is a viable solution and the numbers show it. As long as we keep trying to fight the good fight and not worry about getting votes or the political aspect will keep marching forward

You don't often get email from [email protected]. Learn why this is important
5 Hi Good afternoon
I attended the event last night at the Paradise Valley Club (Aug 6) I am deeply disgusted and strongly offended at the level of shameful misinformation regurgitated to the public by Mayor Moy and her associate. Mayor Moy described the Housing First concept from the viewpoint of a NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) Mayor Moy's use of Fear Mongering words and phrases was grossly inappropriate and only further caused great misunderstanding of the benefits of Housing First.
"Out of Prison"
"Illicit Drugs"
'Sex Offenders"
"Doesn't Work"
"Allow to Use Drugs"
"Criteria for Resident-Must have Mental Illness"
These are words or phrases intentionally and knowingly used to cause unnecessary fear amongst the citizens and further attempt to discredit a concept that has received world-wide support.

What I found to be especially shameful is that while I attempted to clarify certain misinformation by Mayor Moy, I was yelled at, loudly shouted down, and booed. I DID NOT STOP nor back down from this shameful conduct exhibited by the residents. Additionally, It is very disturbing to me that the moderator or Mayor Moy DID NOT admonish the audience for their gross, shameful behavior!!!!
Mayor Moy and her misinformed, like-minded people are wrongly using Fear Mongering tactics to discredit a concept that, when competently administered, will reduce Homelessness.
