Receive report, open discussion, and provide direction to staff.
STATEMENT OF ISSUE
The City Council requested a follow-up discussion on the potential development of a new Rental Housing Safety Program and is asked to provide direction to staff on whether to move forward with program.
DISCUSSION
The council requested a follow-up discussion item be placed on the agenda for council to discuss the possibility of a new Rental Housing Safety Program. Staff is seeking direction on whether to move forward with the program and implementation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The financial impact will depend on the scope of the program. Cost will include staffing, program administration, outreach, inspection services and first year start-up cost. Potential funding options include General funding allocations, cost recovery through rental housing safety program registration and inspection fees.
