CITY OF FAIRFIELD
RESOLUTION NO. 2025-206
AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO WRITE OFF UNCOLLECTIBLE DEBT
WHEREAS, the City has established a policy to write off delinquent utility accounts and non-utility accounts; and
WHEREAS, City Council approval is required on all accounts in excess of $1,000; and
WHEREAS, the City has attempted collection efforts on delinquent utility and non -utility accounts; and
WHEREAS, collection efforts on these accounts have been unsuccessful for various reasons; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to accurately portray the true economic value of past due accounts in the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFIELD HEREBY RESOLVES:
Section 1. The council hereby approves the write-off of 23 uncollectible utility accounts in excess of $1,000 for a total of $ 58,066 (Exhibit A), and the director of finance is authorized to write off these uncollectible accounts.
Section 2. The council hereby approves the write-off of the uncollectible accounts listed in Exhibit A is authorized solely to facilitate the keeping of the books of account of the City, and under no circumstances shall any such write-offs be deemed to constitute relinquishment or abandonment by the City from collecting or enforcing payment of any such account or claim at any time.
