RESOLUTION NO. 2025-242
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE A MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT WITH
RODGERS CREATIVE ENTERPRISES TO MANAGE AND OPERATE THE FAIRFIELD CENTER FOR
CREATIVE ARTS, ALSO KNOWN AS THE DOWNTOWN THEATRE
WHEREAS, at the January 2025 City Council Retreat, council provided direction to staff to solicit a Request for Qualifications (RFQ)/Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking comprehensive venue management of the Downtown Theatre with explicit requirements to reduce the sub sidy and reliance on general fund and actively engage with meeting the vision of the “Heart of Fairfield” Plan; and
WHEREAS, an RFQ/RFP was released on May 19, 2025, with response from three companies (Big Lights Little City, Downtown Theatre for the Arts Foundation, and Rodgers Creative Enterprises) to serve as operator to manage the City’s Downtown Theatre; and
WHEREAS, Rodgers Creative Enterprises ranked highest through a comprehensive evaluation process by a formal selection committee.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFIELD HEREBY RESOLVES:
Section 1. The city manager or assigned designee is authorized to negotiate a management contract with Rodgers Creative Enterprises to manage the City’s Downtown Theatre.
