______
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Adopt resolution.
STATEMENT OF ISSUE
Recent labor negotiations and compensation adjustments have resulted in updates to the City’s salary schedule. CalPERS regulations require that salary schedules be formally adopted by the City Council to ensure the compensation reported to CalPERS is valid for re tirement benefit calculations. Adoption of the attached resolution will formalize the updated salary schedule and maintain the City’s compliance with CalPERS requirements.
DISCUSSION
The city periodically updates its salary schedule to reflect changes resulting from collective bargaining agreements, side letters, and other council-approved compensation actions.
California Code of Regulations, Title 2, Section 570.5 requires that salary schedul es used for CalPERS retirement reporting be formally adopted by the employer’s governing body. Adoption of the attached resolution ensures the City’s updated salary schedule complies with this requirement and validates compensation reported to CalPERS.
While the city has implemented the negotiated compensation changes administratively, formal adoption of the updated salary schedule by resolution is required to legitimize the salaries for CalPERS reporting purposes and to ensure retirement benefits are calc ulated accurately. The
attached salary schedule incorporates compensation changes approved through recent labor negotiations and other authorized adjustments. No new compensation actions are being proposed as part of this item. This agenda item is administrative in nature and is intended solely to ensure compliance with CalPERS regulations.
Upon adoption, the updated salary schedule will be submitted to CalPERS and posted in accordance with transparency requirements.
Staff recommend approval of the City’s updated salary schedule for CalPERS reporting purposes.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The proposed resolution to approve and updated salary schedule will not increase staffing costs in the department’s budget.

No alternative action is recommended.
