RESOLUTION NO. 2026-46
APPROVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND AWARDING A CONTRACT TO GHILOTTI CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE MIDTOWN SEWER REPLACEMENT PROJECT – PHASE 1 (GATEWAY BOULEVARD, GATEWAY COURT, LINCOLN STREET, GRANT STREET, GRANT COURT)
WHEREAS, the bid opening The Midtown Sewer Replacement Project – Phase 1 (Gateway Boulevard, Gateway Court, Lincoln Street, Grant Street, Grant Court) took place on February 17, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the apparent low bidder was Ghilotti Construction Company (Ghilotti Construction) in the amount of $1,391,193; and
WHEREAS, staff have reviewed the bid documents from Ghilotti Construction and found them to be in order; and
WHEREAS, staff is recommending that council award the contract to Ghilotti Construction as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFIELD HEREBY RESOLVES:
Section 1. The plans and specifications for the Project are hereby approved.
Section 2. The city manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Ghilotti Construction for the Project for a not-to-exceed amount of $1,391,193.
Section 3. The public works director is hereby authorized to execute and administer change orders for an amount not to exceed 20% ($278,238.60) of the above contract amount.
Section 4. The city manager is authorized to enter into an escrow agreement for security deposits in lieu of retention for said contract, if necessary.
Section 5. The city manager is hereby authorized to implement the above-mentioned contract and escrow agreement.
