CITY OF FAIRFIELD
RESOLUTION NO. 2026-53
APPROVING AND ADOPTING SIDE LETTERS OF AGREEMENT RELATING TO SPECIAL
COMPENSATION FOR CALPERS REPORTING PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the City of Fairfield participates in the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS); and
WHEREAS, California Code of Regulations, Title 2, Section 57 1 (b)(1) requires that all items of special compensation are contained in a written labor policy or agreement, provided that the document has been duly approved and adopted by the governing body in accordance with requirements of applicable public meeting laws; and
WHEREAS, the City has revised certain special compensation language in the applicable Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) through approved side letter s, at the request of CalPERS, to provide greater clarity regarding reportable compensation provisions; and
WHEREAS, the updated side letter reflects and clarifies compensation previously approved by the City Council and it is necessary to ensure compliance with applicable Ca lPERS reporting requirements.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRFIELD HEREBY RESOLVES:
Section 1. The updated side letters, attached hereto and incorporated by reference, are hereby approved and adopted for CalPERS reporting purposes.
Section 2. The city manager or their designee is authorized to submit the approved side letters to CalPERS and take all actions necessary to implement this resolution.
