Agenda Item No: N.13

AGENDA REPORT
DATE: May 26, 2026

TO: Mayor and Council

FROM: David Gassaway, City Manager

SUBJECT: Resolution 2026-86 FD Equipment Purchase for Stations 36 and 39

Authorizing the City Manager to Execute the Purchase of Self -Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)/Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Washers and Compressors for Future Fire Stations 36 and 39

Funding Source: $189,031; Public Buildings Fund

Contact: John Sturdee, (707) 436-7228

RECOMMENDED ACTION
Adopt resolution.

STATEMENT OF ISSUE
The City is currently constructing two new fire stations (Station 36 and Station 39) and requires the purchase of the SCBA/PPE washers and compressors to be made prior to construction completion.

DISCUSSION
The Fire Department went through an extensive process to select furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&Es) that align with current and future operational standards in the fire service.

The washers and compressors in question are key to continued operational success and have been appropriately budgeted and planned for at each station. It is within the best interest of the City to sole source the desired equipment from Bauer Compressors, which the department has a longstanding relationship for purchasing this type of highly specialized equipment for its facilities.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The total quoted amount for each station is $94,515.32, or a not to exceed price of $189,030.64 for the total purchase ( Public Building Fund 254, Project Strings CPW010036 -AD-40 & CPW010092-AD-40). The total purchase price is inclusive of taxes and freight.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION
The City Council may choose not to adopt the resolution. However, the fire stations would be built without incorporating equipment that is vital to supporting daily operations.
