Dear Fairfield City Council Members,
I am writing as a Fairfield resident who is deeply frustrated and concerned about the proposed data center planned near my home. This project may be presented as economic development, but the people who will live with its consequences deserve far more transparency, meaningful input, and protection than we have received so far.
A data center is not an ordinary neighbor. It can bring persistent industrial -scale noise from cooling systems and backup generators, heavy construction activity, diesel emissions during testing or outages, major electricity and water demands, and changes to the character and livability of nearby neighborhoods. These impacts are especially troubling when the facility is proposed close to homes and families.
I am particularly concerned that Fairfield residents could be asked to absorb the noise, pollution, visual impacts, traffic, and strain on local infrastructure while the primary benefits flowto a private company.
Before this project moves forward, the City must clearly explain who benefits, what the full environmental and public -health impacts will be, how noise and emissions will be monitored and enforced, and whether local residents will receive meaningful, lasting benefits in return.
I urge the Council not to treat public input as a procedural box to check after key decisions have already been made. Please require a thorough and independent environmental review; publicly disclose projected electricity and water use, generator emissions, noise levels, construction impacts, and emergency plans; hold accessible public meetings near the affected neighborhood; and establish enforceable limits, monitoring, and consequences if the operator violates them.
If this development cannot demonstrate that it will protect nearby residents' health, peace, property values, and quality of life, it should not be approved in its proposed location. Fairfield's growth should not come at the expense of the people who already call this city home.
I ask each Council Member to listen closely to affected residents, insist on full transparency, and put the community's well-being ahead of private development interests.
