DRAFT Sample Letter
April 6, 2023
The Honorable Eloise Gomez Reyes
California State Assembly
State Capitol
P.O. Box 942849
Sacramento, CA 94249
Dear Assemblymember Gomez Reyes:
On Tuesday April 11, 2023, the Fontana City Council formally voted to oppose your legislation AB 1000, which would prohibit the city from approving any development or expanding any logistics business within 1,000 feet of a sensitive receptor. The logistics industry is the backbone of Southern California’s economy, and we must work toget her to create common sense policies that work to benefit all people and businesses. Recently, the Governor announced that the State of California is projecting a $22.5B budget deficit, which could signal the end of a decade’s worth of economic growth in the nation’s most populous state. It is critical now more than ever that we work together to create a policy that addresses both the needs of the community and ensures the future success of our economy. According to State Attorney General Rob Bonta, the City of Fontana has already adopted the most stringent environmental standards in California for new warehouse projects. This ordinance serves as a model for AB 1000 and other cities across the state.
If there is an opportunity to work with your office on AB 1000, please feel free to contact the City of Fontana at (909) 350-7606.
Sincerely,
[Fontana City Council Member Names and Signatures]
