The City of Fontana will utilize grant funds to purchase equipment for the CERT team to address inclement weather /extreme heat threats during large-scale events, citywide points of distribution efforts during emergencies and disaster such as COVID-19 or winter flu vaccination events; and city incident deployments.
Procuring (2) tents and two different sizes will allow CERT members to provide shelter for any type of event or incident in the city. In addition, procure (2) mobile coolers to attach to the tents thus making these tents mobile cooling centers. These mobile cooling centers are important for the city to have in an effort to provide safe, secure and comfortable relief from extreme heat, high winds and hazardous environments. The purchase of two shields will sustain the City’s SWAT Team when responding during incidents and events.
