RESOLUTION NO. 2025-009
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FONTANA, CALIFORNIA AMENDING ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY SECTION 70-03, CREATING AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE POLICY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fontana has adopted Administrative policies which detail the Rules and Regulations under which the City operates; and WHEREAS, the Administrative Policies are periodically updated to reflect organizational needs; and WHEREAS, the City of Fontana recognizes that Artificial Intelligence is a fast moving and impactful technology. The purpose of this Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy is to establish guidelines, principles, and standards for the responsible development, deployment, purchase, and use of AI technologies by staff and public officials of the City of Fontana.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fontana, does hereby amend Administrative Policy Section 70-03, Artificial Intelligence Policy.
Section 1. Recitals. The above recitals are true, correct and by this reference incorporated herein.
Section 2. Findings/ Approvals. City Council hereby adopts the Artificial Intelligence Policy attached hereto as “Exhibit A” and incorporated herein by this reference.” Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective following adoption by the City Council.
Section 4. Severability. If any provision of this Resolution or the application of any such provision to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this Resolution that can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this Resolution are severable. The City Council declares that it would have adopted this Resolution irrespective of the invalidity of any particular portion of this Resolution.
Section 5. Certification. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
Section 6. Custodian of Records. The documents and materials that constitute the record of proceedings on which this Resolution is based are located at the City Clerk’s office located at 8353 Sierra Avenue, Fontana, CA 92335. The custodian of records is the City Clerk.
