8D. 22-314 Receive Report and Recommendation from Finance and Administration Committee and Consider Adoption of Joint City Council/Municipal Improvement District Resolution Temporarily Waiving Water and Wastewater Capacity Fees for All Businesses in the Central Business District for a Three-Year Period
06272022 Capacity Fee Waiver
Att 1 - CBD Revitalization Toolkit
Att 2 - RESO Water and Sewer Capacity Waiver
Just one more comment on this item. I was around when these fees were put in place, rushed a bit when the thinking that the Mill Site would develop fast. Of course it did not, but this thought. I went to Eggheads this weekend, I remember when Lyle and Nancy Ritchy opened it up. On a shoe string. Now it is a huge part of the CBD. Why are these fees in place, when an resturant or any business opens, it pays the commercial rate for water and sewer, so they pay as they go.
To put these hurdles in place put the mom an pop in an impossible position. The recent development has happened in spite of these fees. I suggust they be banned for the entire town, not just waived. The city’s job is to provice services, the usurs pay forever, not just for the privilge opening a busines.
