On behalf of the Mendocino Coast Humane Society, I am writing to respectfully request financial assistance to fund the upgrade of our facility’s freezer. This upgrade is necessary to accommodate the increasing demand for our services, which now extend beyond the City of Fort Bragg to residents of Mendocino County as well.

Currently, MCHS provides euthanasia services for publicly owned animals, and in many cases, owners are unable to take the remains of their pets. As a result, we are responsible for the safe storage of these animals until they can be transported to Sacramento for cremation.

Unfortunately, our current freezer is both old and too small to meet the growing demand. This situation has led us to rely on the Fort Bragg Police Department’s freezer, which is not a sustainable long-term solution.

If we are able to secure the necessary funds for this freezer upgrade, not only will MCHS be able to manage our operations more effectively, but we will also create space for the Fort Bragg Police Department (FBPD) to utilize. This will eliminate the need for the maintenance and operation of their current freezer, allowing them to free up resources and reduce operational burdens.

With the increased capacity at MCHS, we will ensure the respectful care and handling of deceased pets and provide an expanded service that benefits both the city and the county.

We respectfully request these funds to cover the costs associated with this necessary upgrade.

Your support will greatly enhance our ability to continue providing compassionate and essential services to the community while streamlining operations across both MCHS and FBPD.

Thank you for considering our request. We are available to provide any further information or meet at your convenience to discuss the proposal in more detail. --
