Subject: Public Comment for City Clerk & City Manager Performance Evaluations Date: Friday, November 8, 2024 5:48:21 PM
City Council,
I noticed employee performance evaluation agenda items on Tuesday's council meeting so I thought I should write in to share that, despite my (admittedly deserved) reputation for being very critical and nitpicky, I have been impressed with both Diana and Isaac's performance so far.

Diana has been diligent and is improving over time, which is what one would hope for, particularly since she hasn't yet had the advantage of the extensive training our prior city clerk had and a lot of the job is technical and not necessarily intuitive so such training is important. I can tell she is dedicated to doing her best and she has started a lot of that technical training.

She is also timely in responding to PRA requests, which hasn't always been the case before she took over the role.

Isaac is clearly an overachiever and I am particularly impressed with both the strategic plan he spearheaded and developed with you and the rest of the community but also that he isn't letting it sit on a shelf and collect dust. I really appreciate that he is actively pursuing various initiatives from the plan, particularly those about improving the City's focus on economic development and building a business-friendly organization. We have all been asking for those priorities for a long time but before this past year, there hasn't really been a concerted focus on trying to be that way rather than just talking about how that is a goal. That is a welcome change. I am also excited about and endorse the various housing initiatives that are moving forward, although I admittedly am thinking about them because of the agenda item on that topic.

Anyway, I think you all made good choices hiring Diana and Isaac in their important roles and look forward to their continued growth and service to our community.

Regards,
--Jacob
