PROCLAMATION
Honoring the 40th Anniversary of Northcoast Artists Gallery WHEREAS, in the winter of 1986 a small group of inspired and enterprising coastal artists realized a dream: to create a showroom and retail space for locally made art.  At a time when logging and fishing were still the main industries in this area, Northcoast Artists was the first cooperative gallery in Fort Bragg and led the way for others found in Fort Bragg today; and WHEREAS, Northcoast Artists Gallery has remained a true cooperative, managed and staffed solely by its members whose spirit and enthusiasm is evident in ongoing displays of their current work in the gallery; and WHEREAS, over the last 40 years Northcoast Artists Gallery has fostered community for its member artists, while providing high-quality art exhibitions for visitors and local viewers alike, including solo member exhibits and eclectic, invitational group shows; and WHEREAS, the 40th anniversary of Northcoast Artists Gallery is a time to acknowledge its ongoing contribution to the local economy, and to our rich visual arts culture here on the coast; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, I, Jason Godeke, Mayor of the City of Fort Bragg, on behalf of the entire City Council, do hereby recognize and congratulate Northcoast Artists Gallery on the momentous occasion of its 40th anniversary, and extend our deep appreciation for its ongoing contributions to the Fort Bragg community.
