MEETING CALLED TO ORDER
Chair Peters opened the meeting at 3:01 PM.
ROLL CALL
Present are Chair Lindy Peters and Councilmember Scott Hockett.
1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
26-79 Approve Minutes of the Public Safety Committee Meeting of January 21, 2026.
Chair Peters motions, Councilmember Hockett seconds the motion. Minutes were approved as presented.

3. CONDUCT OF BUSINESS
3A. 26-80 Information On The New 2026 California Laws Regarding Electric Bicycles Chair Peters began the discussion by noting that several community members have expressed serious concerns to him about the speed of e-bikes on the coastal trail.
Police Chief Swift began his presentation by providing information on the local ordinance that is currently in place. He continued by providing examples of the different types of electric bicycles, electric scooters, and motorcycles along with the specifications of each type.
Chair Peters continued to discuss his concerns along with the publics concerns regarding speeding on the coastal trails. Chief Swift acknowledged the concerns and informed the committee that in the near future there will be more educational information provided to general public, along with posted signage in the costal trails. Councilmember Scott Hockett agreed that signage should be placed at the trail entrances.
