RESOLUTION OF THE FORT BRAGG CITY COUNCIL APPROVING BUDGET AMENDMENT BA 26/27-03 AND A CONTRIBUTION TO THE FORT BRAGG UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE PURCHASE OF A POWER TURF RENOVATION 60-INCH SPORTS TURF RESURFACING MACHINE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RELEASE PAYMENT (AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $18,995.00; ACCOUNT NO. 110-4390-0619)
WHEREAS, at the November 8, 2016 General Election, the voters of the City of Fort Bragg approved Measure AA, adopting Ordinance No. 924-2016, which increased the City’s Transient Occupancy Tax from ten percent (10%) to twelve percent (12%) to fund public services and maintain public areas, effective April 1, 2017; and WHEREAS, at the same election, voters approved Measure AB, an advisory measure recommending that the additional revenues generated by the tax increase be used as follows: one-half for promotions, events, and marketing for Fort Bragg; one-quarter for Coastal Trail maintenance and security; one-eighth to support establishment of the Noyo Center for Marine Science as a premier visitor attraction; and one-eighth for special projects that support tourism and benefit the community, including, but not limited to, repair and enhancement of local athletic fields; and WHEREAS, Measure AB provides advisory guidance to the City Council regarding use of those additional revenues, and the proposed expenditure is subject to City Council approval; and WHEREAS, the Fort Bragg Unified School District (FBUSD) has requested $18,995.00 in Measure AB Special Projects funding to purchase a Power Turf Renovation 60-inch sports turf resurfacing machine to support maintenance and renovation of local athletic fields; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that funding equipment for the care and enhancement of local athletic fields serves a public purpose, benefits the community, supports facilities that can accommodate visiting teams and families, and is consistent with the Special Projects purposes identified in Measure AB; and WHEREAS, Budget Amendment BA 26/27-03, attached as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference, provides an additional appropriation of $[Finance to complete] in Fiscal Year 2026/27 to Account No. 110-4390-0619, funded from available unappropriated revenues allocated for Measure AB Special Projects, as identified in Exhibit A; and WHEREAS, FBUSD’s funding request and vendor cost documentation are attached as Exhibit B and incorporated herein by reference; WHEREAS, the Cost of Turf Resurfacing Machine was provided by the FBUSD is attached hereto as Exhibit B; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Fort Bragg does hereby approve Budget Amendment 26/27-03 authorizing payment to the Fort Bragg Unified School District for the Turf Resurfacing Machine and authorizes the City Manager to release the payment in an amount not to exceed $18,995.00 (Account No. 110-4390-0619).
