Fort Bragg City Council Meeting — October 13, 2026
Re: Agenda Item 7A
Dear Members of the City Council,
I am Steve Ageno, a 74-year-old retiree who lives in Fort Bragg four to six months a year. I ride the Coastal Trail four or five times a week on either a traditional bicycle or a Class 3 e-bike, and I consider the trail one of the city’s greatest assets. I am writing about e-bike use under Agenda Item 7A. Although my e-bike can reach 28 mph while pedaling, I ride at a safe, leisurely pace and respect other trail users. E-bikes make cycling easier for older riders, giving us an opportunity to exercise outdoors while enjoying the sea air and views. I support speed-limit signs to protect everyone on the trail, especially because I have seen some riders on traditional racing bicycles travel too fast and create a risk of collisions.

Best regards,
Steve Ageno
