SUBJECT: Police Department Monthly Report for December 2021 STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive report as an informational item.
Patrol Statistics:
During the month of December 2021, the Fortuna Police handled 1,408 calls for service of which 324 of the incidents were “officer initiated”. 57 total arrests were made during the month of December, including 16 felony arrests and 41 misdemeanor arrests. A total of 22 citations were also issued for traffic and/or misdemeanor violations. Crime statistics and information on calls for service can be found at forpd.crimegraphics.com.
Staffing:
Staffing levels were impacted during the month of December. The police department is working diligently to replace existing vacancies which include:
Two sworn police officer positions, and
One part time Community Service Officer
It should be noted, one currently employed police officer is now in background with another agency. Another currently employed police officer is scheduled to resign in February/March 2022.
Employee of the Month:
During the month of December, Police Sergeant Joshua Phinney received the department’s “Employee of the Month” award for his leadership and his commitment to the organization and to the community.

Officer of the year: K-9 Officer Dennis Stevens
Dispatcher of the year: PSD Tanya Kadle
Volunteer of the year: Linda Bergstrom
