Business Agenda Item 5e
STAFF REPORT
City Council Business Agenda Item
DATE: February 22, 2022
TO: Honorable Mayor and Council Members
FROM: Merritt Perry, City Manager
SUBJECT: Supplemental Budget Request for Cleanup and Outreach Services with River Life Foundation
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending the Council authorize a supplemental budget request in the amount of $3,000 for cleanup and outreach services with River Life Foundation EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
At the time the Fiscal Year 2021-22 Budget was being prepared there was still a great amount of uncertainty regarding the amount of sales tax revenue that would be generated throughout the year. In response, Staff reduced the requested amount of this project from $15,000 to $12,000, which was the amount the Measure E Committee recommended and Council included in the FY 2021-22 Budget. Due to ongoing need for outreach services and the coordination of volunteer cleanups, staff is recommending that the Council provide an additional $3,000 for these services in the current fiscal year.
FISCAL IMPACT
Approval of the supplemental budget request will commit an additional $3,000 of Measure E funds for cleanup coordination and outreach services. Not approving this request could lead to increased littering and a negative community image that would have an unknown negative economic impact to the City.
