SUBJECT: Supplemental Budget Request for the Purchase of Four Police Vehicles STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Approve a Supplemental Budget Request (SBR) for the Purchase of four (4) police vehicles that recognizes revenue from the USDA Community Facilities Grant, and provides matching funds from the City’s Asset Seizure Fund.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On March 28, 2022, the Fortuna Police Department received notification from the USDA that the police department had been selected to be awarded $140,847.44 grant from their Community Facilities Grant program for the purchase and outfitting of four (4) police patrol vehicles.
The estimated cost for the purchase and outfitting of the vehicles is estimated to be $256,086.26 and includes four (4) Ford Police Explorer 4 Door (AWD) vehicles, police equipment package and installation, graphics installation and all applicable taxes and fees. Staff received updated quotes during the week of February 21, 2022 to confirm the costs. The vehicles are being purchased by Downtown Ford. Downtown Ford has a Sourcewell purchasing advantage, which guarantees the best pricing as the City can use the previously solicited bids by another governmental agency to purchase the vehicles. The purchase of vehicles is an allowable use of Asset Seizure funds.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The purchase of the vehicles will cost the City $256,086.26. Staff recommends that $115,286.26 come from the Asset Seizure Fund (180-8000-2000). The remaining $140,800.00 will be funded from the USDA Community Facilities Grant.
