Re: Your Letter Dated May 20, 2022
Dear Mr. Plotz:
I do not believe the Fortuna Business Improvement Corporation overpaid me. I have repeatedly asked for the evidence of any alleged overpayments and have never received any response. I have consistently stated that if there was evidence to show that I was overpaid, I would reimburse the amount. Your letter alleges certain overpayments, but you provide no evidence to support those allegations.
From my review of the FBID audit finding and audited financial statements performed by Anderson, Lucus, Somerville & Borges, LLP, I have not seen any evidence of overpayment. I still have not been shown any evidence.
I agree with the recommendations of segregation of duties and more internal control. I was and am not a bookkeeper. I was not trained to be a bookkeeper or an accountant. I was given little guidance regarding recordkeeping. I take responsibility for my lack of efficient filing systems and record keeping; however, I worked in good faith according to my high standards of honesty and trust to the best of my abilities.
You cannot expect me to pay $9,656.02 without providing me evidence that owe it.
Please provide the detail that supports your allegations, and I will respond accordingly.
Respectfully,
Dianna Rios
