SUBJECT: Approve an Amendment to the Agreement between the City of Fortuna and the Humboldt Skatepark Collective
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Review and approve an amended agreement with the Humboldt Skatepark Collective.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City of Fortuna and the Humboldt Skatepark Collective (HSC) entered into a “Right of Entry” agreement that was approved by City Council in February of 2019. In this agreement, HSC expressed their interest in building a skate park in Newburg Park. The previous 36-month agreement has lapsed and is in needs to be updated to allow the HSC to proceed with their efforts to seek funding to design and build a skate park. In addition to updating the term, the agreement includes a change of location from the proposed area adjacent to Rohnerville Road, to the area immediately behind the existing Newburg Bike Park. The amended agreement also reflects the new HSC secretary as a signatory.
The agreement outlines specifics to the City’s consent for HSC to ultimately develop a proposal for a skate park design on said property, to fundraise, seek grant funding, and enter the property for the planning purposes. As outlined in the agreement, progress of skate park development efforts would be reported quarterly to City staff by the HSC, with no commitment or obligation made by the City to HSC.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None at this time.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the amended agreement between the City of Fortuna and the Humboldt Skatepark Collective. Consent agenda vote.
