SUBJECT: River Lodge Conference Center and Fortuna Monday Club Monthly Report for December 2022
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive report as an informational item.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The River Lodge and Monday Club held a total of 32 events in the month of December.
There were six regularly scheduled meetings between the two facilities, a wedding, a piano recital, two baby showers and a memorial.
Ducks Unlimited returned to hosting their Annual Dinner at River Lodge. It was a well-attended event and raised a good amount of money for the restoration and conservation of Humboldt area wetlands.
River Lodge catered two Holiday Luncheons and the City Council Reception.
Hydesville Church held a Christmas breakfast and worship service at River Lodge and two local schools held holiday music programs.
The Fortuna Garden Club held the Christmas Home Tour. Coffee, tea and cookies were served afterwards at the Monday Club.
After taking two years off due to Covid, the Fortuna Music Festival returned to River Lodge. The show was shortened to only three performing acts and a finale. Acts included Scotia Band, Mariachi Real De Mexico and Partnership in Music Orchestra, formerly known as, All Seasons Orchestra and Humboldt Symphony. It was an amazing performance with a large crowd in attendance.
The Annual City of Fortuna Breakfast took place at River Lodge. This is always a great way to end the year and honor those who have served the city.
The month ended with the California Farm Bureau Annual Dinner.

Unfortunately, as a result of the earthquake on December 20, 2022, both the River Lodge and Monday Club sustained some level of damage. The Monday Club was deemed unsafe for a number of days due to a chimney becoming separated from the building and only minor cosmetic damage occurred at the River Lodge. Staff were able to make accommodations for our user groups at River Lodge.
