SUBJECT: Police Department Monthly Report for March & April 2023 STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive report as an informational item.
Patrol Statistics:
During the month of March 2023, the Fortuna Police handled 1,533 calls for service. 64 arrests were made including 14 felony arrests and 50 misdemeanor arrests. 61 citations were issued for traffic offenses or other miscellaneous violations.
During the month of April 2023, the Fortuna Police handled 1,409 calls for service. 66 arrests were made including 22 felony arrests and 44 misdemeanor arrests. 61 citations were issued for traffic offenses or other miscellaneous violations. Staffing:
The Police Department filled the following vacancies:
Lateral Public Safety Dispatcher – Hired.
The Police Department is preparing to fill the following vacancies:
Two Sworn Police Officer’s – Lateral Candidates are being interviewed. *Command Staff is currently considering a recommendation for the addition of a second lieutenants position to the organizational chart.
Grant Awards/Application:
The police department submitted the following grant application(s):
USDA – Body Worn Camera
COPS – Federal funding for a new police officer position Community Engagement Piece:
Through an ongoing collaboration with the Fortuna Kiwanis Club, the School Resource Officer participated in a multi-campus reading program throughout the months of March and April.
The K-9 unit has held a drive through dinner fundraiser in April.
