SUBJECT: Rejection of Claim Submitted by Cari McCormick and Direct the City Clerk to Send Notice of Rejection
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the council reject the claim submitted by Cari McCormick and Direct the City Clerk to send a Notice of Rejection.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Claimant Cari McCormick, through her attorney, submitted a claim to the City of Fortuna, as well as 1,500 other public entities throughout California, alleging discrimination in the CalPERS system. Ms. McCormick was never an employee of the City, but named the City as a defendant in the potential class action suit because the City is a CalPERS participant.
Our City Attorney and our insurance provider recommend that the City Council reject this claim.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact at this time.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion to reject the claim submitted by Cari McCormick and Direct the City Clerk to send a Notice of Rejection. Consent Agenda vote.
