SUBJECT: Police Department Monthly Report for September 2023 STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive report as an informational item.
PATROL STATISTICS:
During the month of September 2023, the Fortuna Police handled 1,371 calls for service. 71 arrests were made including 15 felony arrests and 56 misdemeanor arrests. 64 citations were issued for traffic offenses or other miscellaneous violations. STAFFING:
The Police department has one sworn police officer position open. The police department has one entry level Public Safety Dispatcher candidate, Emma Valk who has completed the pre-employment background investigation. The City is preparing to onboard Emma and she will assigned to the dispatch academy at CR. A new Kennel Attendant, Libbi Wolfe was hired in the month of September.
STATUS OF GRANT AWARDS/APPLICATIONS:
USDA – Body Worn Camera: Submitted, and approved.
COPS – Federal funding for a new police officer position: Submitted, awaiting approval and award (announced in October / federal FY).
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION:
Receive Police Department Monthly Report (September). Consent Agenda vote.
